Sustainability at Diablo Co.
Crafted with Respect for the Land
At Diablo Co., sustainability isn't a marketing claim, it's part of every decision we make. From the way we source our ingredients to how we produce, package and deliver our products, we're committed to creating exceptional beverages while protecting the environment that makes them possible.
Located in the heart of Queensland's Mary Valley, our distillery was created by repurposing the former Cooloola Milk Factory, giving new life to an existing site rather than building from scratch. This reduced construction waste while preserving an important part of the region's agricultural history.
Pure Mary Valley Spring Water
Water is at the heart of every Diablo beverage.
Our production facility draws water from a natural aquifer on our property, fed by the Mary River. Every drop is naturally filtered before undergoing additional purification and remineralisation to achieve the ideal mineral balance and pH for beverage production.
This gives us complete control over the quality, consistency and traceability of our water—from aquifer to bottle.
Supporting Local Agriculture
We believe great products begin with great ingredients.
Our organic ginger is grown on our own property in the Mary Valley, while our sugarcane and molasses are sourced from Queensland producers. By growing and sourcing locally wherever possible, we reduce transport, support Australian farmers and strengthen regional supply chains.
Nothing goes to waste. By-products from our distilling process are returned to local farmers as livestock feed, while remaining organic material is repurposed as compost to enrich the soil.
Renewable Energy & Lower Emissions
As our business grows, we're investing in reducing our environmental footprint.
Our production facility now operates approximately 80% off-grid through expanded solar infrastructure, helping reduce reliance on external power. Our sales team also uses hybrid vehicles to lower fuel consumption and emissions.
Responsible Packaging
We're continually improving the way our products are packaged.
Approximately 90% of our packaging contains recycled content and is fully recyclable. We've reduced packaging materials across our product range by transitioning to lighter-weight cardboard where possible and continue exploring innovative packaging formats that minimise waste.
At festivals and events, we've introduced reusable can systems that significantly reduce single-use packaging while encouraging customers to participate in the circular economy.
Better for You
Sustainability also means creating products people can feel good about enjoying.
Our production facility is 100% gluten-free, and our Diablo Ginger Beer products are officially endorsed by Coeliac Australia. We've reduced the sugar in our flagship Alcoholic Ginger Beer, introduced alcohol-free options, and every product is made without artificial additives.
Every new product we develop is guided by one principle:
If it doesn't taste exceptional, it doesn't leave the building.
Looking Ahead
Sustainability is an ongoing journey.
We're committed to continually improving the way we farm, manufacture and package our products while supporting our local community and protecting the natural environment we call home.
Every bottle of Diablo represents our commitment to quality, innovation and responsible production—from the Mary Valley to your glass.
